This study aims to examine the role of transportation in strengthening sustainable security in Iran based on a thematic analysis of the official statements and directives of the Supreme Leader. A total of 41 documents, including speeches, messages, and policy guidelines related to national security, socio-economic development, and environmental protection, were systematically analyzed.
The findings reveal that transportation networks play a vital role not only in supporting military logistics and operational mobility but also in enhancing economic resilience, reducing regional inequalities, and fostering social cohesion. Particular emphasis in the statements has been placed on the development of infrastructure in border and strategic areas as a means of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Furthermore, the promotion of safe and environmentally friendly modes of transport is highlighted as a key approach to ensuring ecological security and public health.
Overall, the study concludes that transportation, as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, is closely interlinked with national security, economic prosperity, and social justice. Accordingly, prioritizing clean and efficient transportation infrastructure in national planning can significantly contribute to strengthening sustainable security.
