Hybrid warfare, as one of the most complex forms of national security threats, uses a variety of tools, including economic measures, to pressure countries. Iran has also faced various dimensions of hybrid warfare, especially its economic component, in recent years, and in fact since the victory of the Islamic Revolution. This article aims to identify effective strategies to counter the economic threats of hybrid warfare against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this research, using a descriptive-analytical method and relying on documentary and library studies, the most important economic threats of hybrid war against Iran, including international sanctions, targeted currency fluctuations, disruptions in the supply chain, and cyberattacks on financial infrastructure, have been examined. Then, strategies to deal with these threats have been presented.
The research findings show that strengthening economic diplomacy, developing alternative markets, creating alternative financial mechanisms (such as non-dollar payment systems), developing and implementing resilient economic policies with an emphasis on domestic production and reducing dependence on imports, increasing economic resilience, promoting cybersecurity in various economic sectors, and educating and raising awareness among economic activists about hybrid warfare threats are among the key strategies to reduce Iran's vulnerability to economic warfare. This study emphasizes the need to adopt a comprehensive and multidimensional strategy, along with coordination between government and private institutions.
