This study examines the relationship between institutional quality, human development, and environmental sustainability by examining three components: rule of law, quality of oversight and control of corruption, and level of CO2 emissions in MENA. The present study examines the critical role of these factors, along with gross domestic product and renewable energy consumption in MENA from 2008 to 2023, on environmental sustainability. in this research, the fixed effects method, random effects, generalized method of moments, Driscoll-Cray, as well as the fully modified ordinary least squares and dynamic ordinary least squares techniques have been used to examine the long-term relationship between variables. The findings support the significant impact of institutional quality components, human capital and other variables on improving environmental sustainability in MENA countries. Also, there is an environmental Kuznets relationship between economic growth and environmental sustainability in these countries. It is recommended that MENA countries consider the necessary policies to increase institutional quality and renewable energy consumption to improve environmental sustainability in MENA countries.
