Military Expenditures and its Impact on Development of Defense Economy in I.R.Iran

Abstract

Defensive expenditures are the costs that a nation pays to create and maintain national security, and the defense economics explores and applies the concepts of resource allocation, income distribution, growth and economic stability in defensive affairs. The main purpose of this research is to achieve defense expenditures and their impact on growth and development of defense economy in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Due to the nature of this research, this study is applied and descriptive with quantitative approach. Data collection was done by field and library methods using documents. Human resource development includes components of individual development, educational development, organizational development, professional development, cultural-social development and resource allocation including components of military manpower training, infrastructure development and improved production methods. The reliability coefficients of the questionnaire for human resource development and resource allocation has been calculated 0.85 and 0.79, respectively. The statistical population of the study consists of 140 staff including experts and managers in the field of economics. Using Cochrane sampling formula, the sample size was 55 people. Analysis of the results of quantitative analysis (chi-square test) at 5% error level (α = 0.05) showed that development of human resources and allocation of resources to the defense sector will contribute to the growth and development of the defense economy in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Results showed that the defense sector had a positive effect on the growth and development of the defense economy by providing security in the country.
