Abstract

Countries tend to defend their dependence against foreign threats and allocate parts of their military expenditures to production, exports and imports of weaponry. In this paper we investigate Weaponry Import and Export Function and effective factors of it for 25 countries including Iran during 1992 to 2015. We first determine effective factors on weaponry Import and Export Function. Then we estimated the coefficients of these functions using regression analysis methods. Results show a nonlinear relation between domestic product and weaponry imports, in which with an increase in domestic product the propensity to import increases at first, but decreases with further production increase. Besides, importing weaponry prices and the number of military staff have negative effect on weaponry imports. Estimation of weaponry export function shows the negative effect of exporting weaponry prices and positive effect of military expenditures, domestic products and number of military staff on weaponry exports.
